Introduction
Since 2022, most Microsoft 365 partners sell through New Commerce Experience (NCE) — monthly or annual terms, stricter change rules, and co-termed renewals. If you buy from M365 Deals in Thailand or Singapore, this is how billing works and what to plan for before renewal day.
NCE in plain language
| Concept | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Subscription term | Monthly or annual commitment per product |
| Seat count | You pay per assigned license; reduce seats before renewal to save |
| Co-termination | Multiple products may align to one renewal date |
| No mid-term downgrade (annual) | Usually cannot drop from annual to monthly until term ends |
| Price changes | Microsoft may adjust list prices at renewal |
We quote in THB or SGD with VAT/GST on invoice — see payment methods.
Monthly vs annual
| Billing | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | Lower upfront cash | Higher unit price over a year |
| Annual | ~15–20% savings typical | Paid upfront; fewer exit options mid-term |
Growing teams often start monthly, then move annual once headcount stabilises.
How renewal works
- Microsoft sends renewal notice via partner (us) ~30 days before term end
- Confirm seat count and plan mix (Standard vs Premium, etc.)
- Pay invoice — we extend the subscription in your tenant
- No DNS change required if you only renew licenses
If payment is late, Microsoft starts a grace period then suspends services — mail stops. See renew without downtime.
Adding seats mid-term
- Monthly: Add seats anytime; prorated charge for remainder of month
- Annual: Add seats anytime; co-termed to subscription end date
Removing seats on annual often waits until renewal — check your invoice terms.
Cancelling
- Turn off auto-renew before the renewal date if you are migrating away
- Export mail and files before expiry — suspended tenants are recoverable only for a limited window
- We can guide Google migration or partner handover
Partner vs buying direct from Microsoft
| CSP partner (us) | Microsoft direct | |
|---|---|---|
| Currency | THB / SGD | Often USD card |
| Local tax invoice | Yes | Varies |
| Support contact | Regional team | Global queue |
| Same NCE rules | Yes | Yes |
Product capabilities are identical — licensing model is Microsoft’s.
